Getting Started with Social Media!
I kept putting off doing anything with Social Media because 1. What I saw of Facebook was a bunch of people getting sucked into time waster activities like finding out who feels blah today. And 2. I was honestly scared of getting too busy as I was already very busy and have precious little time to update people on status, etc.
The first thing I learned is that “friend” pages are one thing, but “fan” pages are where real business is transacted. On fan pages you are allowed to market, to sell, and grow your business. Facebook actually does not want business transacted over Friend pages and they may even black ball you for it. You don’t want to get blackballed by Facebook. Now personally, I hate the name, “fan page”, it sounds like you are following a sports icon or Hollywood star. But it is not like that at all. If you want to start increasing your business through social media, get a Fan Page. Check out mine below and though it still sounds corny to me, sign up to be a fan. I will keep sharing with you guys what I learn as I go through this process and adding as much value as I can to those who team up with me…..
The second thing I had to come to grips with is the fact that the “fear of getting too busy” is a limiting belief. It is an early form of sabotage. More income does not mean you do more work. That is a HUGE limiting belief that MANY people have. And even though I recognize this as a limiting belief, I was still putting off jumping into this social media thing out of fear of “busyness”. So I told myself to get out of the way and I jumped in. And honestly, it is not that bad. I added fans last week, my first week, and my workload did not increase. And it is always that way with limiting beliefs, the thing you fear is actually not that scary at all. I saw this quote from a friend of mine, I thought it was awesome, “If we change the programming that is behind the thought that causes a limiting belief we can change our entire reality. We have to be aware of the programming that probably came from childhood first”.
If you find yourself constantly putting off the thing you know you need to do, go deeper. There is some programming somewhere that is wrong-maybe you think you don’t deserve so much success, so you are subtly sabotaging yourself. Or maybe you think that being successful equals having no life-again, a false idea that is really a flaw in your programming. The bottom line is this, success is yours for the taking. No one can keep it from you but you! The opportunity is still HUGE in this country to make something of yourself, so face your fears and limiting beliefs and get out there and do the thing you fear and have the power!
